Celebrating Women’s Empowerment in Business

With more than 70 incredible interviews of women entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and leaders, the Positive Impact Philanthropy podcast has delved into many aspects of philanthropy, business, and sustainability that bring women from different industries and backgrounds together. Today, however, the focus is on one of the podcast’s most prevalent throughlines: the empowerment of women in business. Though many episodes include insightful conversations about this subject, here are the stories of three favorites.

  1. Neeta Shah: The fourth episode of Positive Impact Philanthropy is an interview with Neeta Shah, CEO of Startup CFO Solutions, a fractional CFO that partners with startup CEOs to accelerate growth and define business goals. Giving back both financially and through service has always been important to Neeta, and her current role gives her the opportunity to not only support women’s empowerment initiatives in her personal life but also in her business. With over 20 years of global experience in finance, Neeta knows firsthand the biases and sexism that women in business face. Since beginning Startup CFO Solutions, Neeta has committed to changing that. She is passionate about promoting women in business and tech, and as such works extensively with women-founded businesses and non-profit organizations. She even created the Prowess Program which gives funding specifically to female founders. Take a listen HERE to learn more about Neeta’s work and to get inspired.

  2. Laura Maiurano: Laura Maiurano is the CEO and co-founder of Five-Foot-Two Marketing. For Laura, the commitment to empowering women in business included the creation of Fierce Founders, a mentoring community dedicated to connecting female founders with a focus on tech startups and women in the process of fundraising. To hear more about what inspired Laura to start this group, you can listen to my interview with her HERE.

  3. Megan Rein: As the co-founder of SIIA Cosmetics, Megan uses her cosmetics company to promote inclusivity in the notoriously divisive beauty industry. She ensures that a portion of SIIA’s proceeds goes to support women’s empowerment and children’s health. To hear how Megan has been able to expand her humanitarian efforts through her business, listen to her episode HERE.

Each woman is uniquely empowering and encourages others to find new ways to empower women in their own businesses. Consider this your opportunity to do the same. How can you use the stories of these women as a catalyst to uplift and empower the women in your work and in your life?
